Our Mission

The picture immediately below was taken in 2016.  It shows our client in the cage-like “tent bed” that he was living in before coming to this home.  This “tent bed” was in turn in one locked room that he almost never was able to leave.  Our client also routinely urinated and defecated on himself in his “tent bed” during this time.  There was no access to education, to community or even to outdoors.  There were also three instances in which our client was abused that we are aware of during this period and perhaps others we will never know about.

The mission of this program is to give our client access to so much more than he ever had in the hospitals, like the one above, that he lived in for the previous three years.  In his home, located in the Santa Cruz Mountains, our client has freedom of movement in a much larger indoor space, the ability to go outdoors, educational opportunities, robust companionship & engagement, community integration, and freedom from abuse.  As in these pictures below, it’s thanks to our staff and this program that our client can enjoy these basic but precious things that most of us take for granted.
